After years of trying to keep her home stylish, yet able to stand up to her 3 dogs and cat, Amy McCawley, Interior Designer by trade, began researching the market for fabrics that were residential-friendly, durable and stylish.
Amy researched a variety of fabrics for a year and tested samples in her own home by sewing many of them together to use as "test rugs." These rugs were placed on the floor and her furry family members were invited to do as they pleased. During the process, many fabrics were weeded out while others were selected to be put into The Livable Home collection. The concept began to grow from there, and The Livable Home became a reality, offering stylish contemporary furniture upholstered with durable fabrics that provide Pet Owners with the answer to the question: What to do when Fidos and Felines Rule the Roost.
Now, Amy is looking to open stores on the West Coast and let her dogs enjoy their golden years getting their photos taken and relaxing at the stores.
The Livable Home Fidos
Jessie
Dalmation/Labrador
Jesse is our unofficial “face” of the store. The only one of our dogs to pose on cue, she has become our “go to” dog for ads and articles. She is a Dalmation /Labrador mix that we were lucky enough to rescue three years ago. Jesse has a great personality and if she could talk she would want to talk about food.
Chloe
Collie/Shepard
At sixteen, Chloe is my oldest dog. After rescuing this collie/shepard mix 15 years ago, she has led the life of a pampered princess. Chloe, we believe, is smarter than most dogs (and many humans). She has trained us to wait on her and has manipulated our other furry kids into doing anything she wants. If she could talk she would demand for us to hire a full time “Chloe petter”.
Tigger
Border Collie/Aussie
Tig, the tig-man, Super Dude and Tiggy D bear – have all been embarrassing names that I have called my little guy over the years. He is a 13 year old, border collie/ Aussie mix that I rescued when he was just a mere 8 weeks old. Found on a highway, this little guy won my heart immediately. Although aloof to most humans, he likes to hang with just me. He looks appalled at the park when I refer to him by any of the above names and it cracks me up. If he could talk, he would swear like a sailor and have an extremely sarcastic edge.
Oliver
Maine Coon
The only cat in our world, this Maine Coon mix thinks that he is a dog. He greets us at the door along with the dogs and fetches his toys. He is a huge fur ball of about 18lbs. and is not catlike at all. He lumbers through the house like a bull in a china shop and constantly causes trouble. We laugh at his antics daily. We rescued him along with his sister and mother when Oliver was only weeks old. He is 10 years old and is still trying to figure out what it means to be a cat. If he could talk he would tell on the others constantly.
